Florida has more mini golf courses per capita than any other state, and it is not particularly close. The combination of year-round warm weather, massive tourist infrastructure, and a deeply embedded family-vacation culture has made the Sunshine State the undisputed national capital of miniature golf. Orlando alone could keep a dedicated player busy for weeks, with courses attached to every major tourist corridor along International Drive, near Walt Disney World, and throughout the Kissimmee area. These courses range from modest roadside operations to multi-million-dollar attractions with animatronic dinosaurs, erupting volcanoes, and live alligators visible from the fairways.

The Gulf Coast communities of Panama City Beach, Destin, and Clearwater Beach maintain their own thriving mini golf strips, where courses compete fiercely for the attention of beachgoing families. Many of these venues have been operating for decades, refurbishing and expanding over time to stay competitive. Tampa and St. Petersburg have both classic outdoor courses and newer indoor venues that appeal to residents looking for activities beyond the tourist zones.

South Florida brings its own energy to the game. Fort Lauderdale and Miami have courses that incorporate tropical landscaping with palms, hibiscus, and flowing water features that blur the line between mini golf and botanical garden. The Keys and Everglades region have a few standout venues where the natural environment itself becomes part of the experience.

Florida's dominance in mini golf is also a matter of economics. The state's massive volume of tourist traffic supports an industry that can sustain more courses per square mile than anywhere else. Competition drives quality up and prices down, making Florida one of the most accessible states for a casual round. From the panhandle to the southernmost point, there is almost never a stretch of highway longer than 30 miles without a mini golf sign in sight.
